The Pros And Cons Of A Water Delivery Service

Many people are opting to drink bottled water or filtered water rather than water straight out of their taps. This is because numerous studies have been done that show there are all kinds of contaminants and chemicals, even though it may test at levels that are safe for consumption. If you are looking to avoid tap water, you have a few options. You can buy bottled water at the store, install a water filtration system at the sink or for your entire home, or subscribe to a water delivery system. Learning the pros and cons will help you decide which is right for your situation. Here are a couple of the pros and cons of a water delivery service.

The Cons of a Water Delivery Service

  • The Cost

One of the downsides to a water delivery system is the cost. Typically, a water delivery service is more expensive than buying large jugs of water yourself at the grocery store and your own cooling system. It may also be more expensive than a water filtration system, depending on the one you select. If you are looking for the cheapest way to get water, this may not be it.

  • The Contract

The other con to a water delivery system is that you are often on a contract. If you find that water delivery doesn't work for you or your family or you are moving, it is not as simple as just cancelling the service. Depending on the carrier, you may be locked into a one or two year contract that can be costly to break.

The Pros of a Water Delivery Service

  • No Heavy Packages to Carry

One of the biggest upsides to a water delivery service is that you do not have heavy packages or bottles to carry. The bottles of water are delivered right to you. In some cases, they may come to your door, and you simply have to move them inside. In other cases, the delivery man will place them right inside your home for you if you are home when they deliver. This sure beats lugging heavy packages of water bottles in and out of your car or 25 or 50 pound bags of salt for your home water filtration system.

  • No Filters to Replace

The other advantage to using a water delivery system is that you don't have to worry about replacing filters. If you use a sink or home filtration system, you have to replace the filters often, or the contaminants you are filtering out will block the flow of water. However, trying to replace the filters can be time consuming. And if you don't have any on hand, you may have to wait a few days to order them, which means you may be drinking dirty water in the meantime.

If you have made the decision not to drink tap water, there are many options available to you. Weighing the pros and cons of all of these contaminant-free water options will help you determine which is the best option for you.
